Year 7 Admissions
Applying for a Year 7 Place 2027/28
If your child will turn 11 between 1st September 2026 and 31th August 2027, they will transfer to secondary school at the start of the new school year in September 2027.
The online application will open on the 12th September 2026.
Before applying for a Y7 place, parents must read the following booklet as it contains important information about the application process.

- Explain how Wigan Council decide which school to offer your child.
- Gives information to help you decide if you are likely to get a place at a particular school.

Appeals

Late Applications
The closing date for applications is 31 October 2026.
If you don't apply for a secondary school place in time, or you wish to change your mind about the preferences or the order of preferences, you must complete a late application form.

In-Year Transfers
If you wish to apply for your child to move schools please click here to visit the Wigan Council website for further information.
Before applying using the online link, please ask your child's current school to complete Part 1 of the Secondary School In-Year Application. Once completed, you must scan or take a photo of the completed Part 1 and upload it to the relevant section of the online applications. This step must be completed before moving onto Part 2 of the form.
