In May, a group of Y10 students, Mr Bramwell, and Miss Critchley took to London for a day packed with politics, history, and once-in-a-lifetime experiences at the Houses of Parliament.

The trip was made possible thanks to The Westleigh School Academy Councillor Emma Fox, who not only arranged the visit but gave us a brilliant guided tour herself! We took part in a hands-on workshop with the fantastic team at the UK Parliament Education Centre and watched live debates in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

A true highlight was a rare invitation to the Speaker’s Apartment, hosted by, Sir Lindsay Hoyle—Speaker of the House of Commons and MP for Chorley. Sir Lindsay welcomed us in, gave us a tour, and shared his fascinating journey into politics. It was truly unforgettable.
